Picking the right solvent helps your coating, ink and adhesive formulas stay steady. MEK, also called Methyl Ethyl Ketone or 2-Butanone, dissolves materials well and evaporates at a nice rate. It works great with acrylic, vinyl, nitrocellulose, polyurethane and epoxy resins. It makes your mixture less thick, helps the coating spread smoothly and form an even film.
Just a reminder: MEK does not pair well with some alkyd resins and fluoropolymers. You may get wrinkled coating or unstable liquid. We suggest you run a small test before full production.
